Downfall of Dialog Telekom

Well we see once the most successful (luckiest) businessman in Sri Lanka in hot waters now. It is a shame that Dr. Hansa is desperate. He is doing many things to survive now.
1. Reducing staff
2. Reducing office buildings and cramping the staff together

But he does not do the need of the hour, understanding what he (or his snr management team) did wrong.
1. Investing on Broadband and DTV and not promoting them
2. Spending a huge amount on call centre. Call centre crews have a high turnover. Some leave even before they finish the training
3. Not recognizing the true front end of the business. It is not the charming sexy sales girl in the counter, but the engineering crew. Nobody buys a sim just because there is a cute customer care girl, people buy because the service is good
4. High level of bureaucracy and red tape

Earlier dialog thrived as they had the largest coverage. Therefore they could charge a premium from customers. But technology can be matched, so it happened. Then dialog started the price war by reducing it tariffs to celebrate 4million customers. It was closely matched by competitors. Hence started the downfall of dialog. With low income, how can dialog afford to maintain its high costs. Its CEO draws a salary of more than 70 lakhs.
